THE ART OF DOING NOTHING
WHY RELAXING IS SO IMPORTANT FOR YOUR WELL-BEING
Every culture on the planet has at least one day in the week meant for rest and recuperation. Many use that time to recharge spiritually or by attending religious services, while others doze away in the sun, listen to sound of waves, and just give themselves the gift of a lazy day. We need to give ourselves a break, and a little downtime works well for almost everybody. We were not designed to go twenty-four seven, 365 days of the year.

Giving yourself a break.

The importance of doing nothing is often forgotten. And just when the moment is there and you’re about to relax your bum off, suddenly you’re that lazy guy by the pool doing nothing with his life. Yep, laziness has never really been acceptable. We associate the aspect nothing with certain irresponsibility, wasting our life. Most of us even feel guilty if we don’t have something to do. That being said, doing nothing is an art on its own. In our current world your body and mind are on a constant race against time which usually results in stress and discomfort. That doesn’t seem to sounds like it’s supposed to, right? Therefore, it is of the utmost importance to rest and regenerate from time to time.

Did you know that relaxing and chilling comes with benefits? When relaxed your creative mind is way more balanced, you tend to make better decisions, are certainly more positive and even your immune system will work more effective which all result in a healthier and happier lifestyle. Thus, doing nothing? Sounds like a fair game to me.
Every now and then go away, have a little relaxation, for when you come back to your work your judgment will be surer. Go some distance away because then the work appears smaller and more of it can be taken in at a glance and a lack of harmony and proportion is more readily seen.

Expert view on taking time off

As a clinic neuropsychiatric Erik Master says that to function properly as a human being it is important to vary effort with lots of relaxation. A busy job, family time and other thing will eventually take their toll if not balanced by the same amount of doing nothing. Everyone wants to be happy but to do so doing nothing must be a seen as a key factor in your life. The more relaxed you are the happier and healthier will be. Stress is considered one of most dangerous things for our bodies.

Relaxing 101

Relaxing is different for everybody. One reads a book; one watches Netflix and others lay on the beach. Thus, doing nothing is different for everybody. Having trouble? There are some tricks to help you calm down and become more balanced. Music can be a real carefree friend. Lounge or Lo-fi hip-hop helps to calm down and could just bring you towards the right balance. Adjust your surroundings to your comfort. Making your surroundings comfortable, will make you more comfortable.

So I challenge you to set your priorities straight. Obliging yourself to take time to relax works. Plan your moment of doing absolutely nothing and just be.
